How it works
- Thirty circular targets appear one at a time at random positions in the arena. Click each one as fast as you can; the moment you hit it, the next one appears somewhere else.
- Every click inside the arena is counted. A hit advances you to the next target. A miss goes on your accuracy record, so spraying clicks at the general vicinity is a strategy the score will notice.
- When the thirtieth target falls, you get three numbers: your average time per target in milliseconds, your total time, and your accuracy as a percentage.
- Results stay in your browser's local storage. Your only opponent is your previous run, which is the fairest opponent available.
What is a good average time per target?
An honest answer requires being upfront about what the number contains. Each target costs you a reaction (noticing where it appeared) plus a movement (getting the cursor there) plus the click itself. Research literature puts typical human visual reaction time at roughly 200-300 milliseconds, and that is only the first ingredient — the movement adds more, and how much more depends on how far the target is and how big it is. Paul Fitts formalized that relationship in 1954: movement time grows with distance and shrinks with target size, which is why a run with generous nearby targets will always look better than a run where the arena scatters them into corners.
So the same person can post noticeably different averages on trainers with different target sizes and arena layouts, and comparing your number here to a number from some other tool tells you very little. We have not run a norming study on this test and we are not going to invent one. What the number is genuinely good for: comparing today's run to yesterday's run, on this test, with these targets.
What an aim trainer actually trains
Flicking: snapping the cursor from where it is to where it needs to be, stopping precisely, and committing to the click. That is a real motor skill, it responds to practice, and it is why gamers run a few rounds of an aim trainer as a warm-up before playing — the same logic as a pianist playing scales.
The honest limit is that practice is specific. Retaking this test will mostly make you better at this test, and at the mouse-to-cursor mapping it shares with other pointing tasks. We will not tell you it sharpens your mind, boosts your reflexes in general, or improves anything beyond clicking circles quickly and precisely. It measures how you clicked thirty circles today, which is exactly what it says it does.
Why misclicks count against you
Without an accuracy penalty, the optimal strategy for any aim trainer is to hose the arena with clicks and let probability do the aiming. That produces impressive-looking times and measures nothing. Counting every stray click inside the arena forces the actual tradeoff that aiming is about: speed against precision. A 450ms average at 100% accuracy and a 380ms average at 82% are two different skills, and the results screen shows you both numbers so you can decide which one you were exhibiting.

What is a good reaction time?
The research literature generally reports typical human visual reaction time at roughly 200-300 milliseconds, and Human Benchmark has published a user median around 273ms for its click test. Note that your average time per target here will run higher than any of those numbers, because an aim trainer adds cursor travel on top of the reaction itself. If you want reaction time isolated from aim, take the reaction time test on this site — it removes the movement and measures only the twitch.
Do aim trainers actually improve your aim?
They improve the thing you practice: flicking a mouse to a target and clicking it precisely. That skill transfers to other mouse-pointing tasks to the extent they share the same motion, which is why gamers use aim trainers to warm up before playing shooters. What we will not claim is anything grander — no general reflex enhancement, no cognitive benefits, no transformation of you as a person. You get better at clicking circles. Sometimes that is the exact thing you wanted to get better at.
How is the aim test scored?
Three numbers. Average time per target: total time divided by thirty, in milliseconds. Total time: from your first target to your last. Accuracy: hits as a percentage of all clicks you made in the arena, so thirty targets hit with five stray clicks scores about 86%. There are no percentiles and no tier that claims you beat some fraction of humanity — we have not normed this against a population, and inventing that number would be lying.
How long does the aim trainer take?
Thirty targets at typical clicking speeds is somewhere between fifteen and forty-five seconds. It is short on purpose: short enough to run before a gaming session, short enough to retry immediately when you are certain the last run did not represent the real you.
What is the difference between an aim trainer and a CPS test?
A CPS test measures raw clicking speed at a single spot — how many clicks you can produce per second when aim does not matter. An aim trainer makes position matter: every target is somewhere new, so the score reflects precision and cursor control, not just finger speed. Why is my average per target so much slower than my reaction time?
Because reacting is only step one. Each target also requires moving the cursor to it and stopping precisely enough to click inside the circle, and that movement takes real time — more for far or small targets, per Fitts's law. A 250ms reaction can honestly coexist with a 550ms per-target average. Nothing is wrong with you; there is simply more work in the task than in a pure reaction test.
