About ME3

ME3 is a browser remake of ME2 Universe, a 3D online world from the 2000s that ran on Shockwave and disappeared when the plugin did. The original island geometry, its floors, walls, ladders, slides, checkpoints and diamonds were recovered from the surviving files and rebuilt as a three.js game, so the place you walk around is the real map at its real scale, not an approximation. You pick an avatar, roam the island, collect diamonds, and ride the vehicles: jet ski, ATV, bike, luge and a few more that the remake adds.

It is a preservation project as much as a game, and it says so: nothing here is a paid product, and the reconstruction notes are in the repository. It is best on a desktop with a keyboard, and it needs a reasonably recent browser for WebGL.

How to play

1. Choose Boy or Girl, type a name if you like, and press Play once loading finishes.
2. Move with WASD or the arrow keys, hold Shift to run, and jump with space. The mouse turns the camera.
3. Press V near a vehicle to ride it and V again to get off. Courses start at their gates on the island.
4. Diamonds are scattered everywhere. Collecting them all is the closest thing to finishing.
